Case Scenario: Configure E911 for Jabber (Wired)
- A user with Jabber installed on a Laptop.The user should Dial 911.With Enhanced Location Tracking features and the new parameters for Jabber in the new Jabber Configuration XML Config File (Jabber-config.xml under UC Services):
- Jabber is able to send Location Updates to CUCM and CUCM will relay the info to CER.
- Jabber will be able to Roam between differents Location under the same Cisco Emergency Responder Group(Clusternig is not supported) and will be discovered under the new Location within 2 minutes.
Importants info for jabber Tracking to work properly:
• Enhanced location tracking feature works only for the 12.5.1SU1 or above versions of Emergency Responder and Unified Communications Manager.
• Cisco Jabber is tracked using IP subnet (if IP subnet is configured) or Unlocated Phones page.
If the MAC address of a Jabber device (wireless or wired) displays the same details as the Device Name, it is tracked using AXL discovery. Else, Cisco Jabber device displays the MAC address of the network if it is tracked using Incremental discovery. If the same Cisco Jabber device is discovered by both then incremental and AXL discoveries, priority is given to AXL discovery tracking method.
• Emergency Responder Clustering is not supported. Phones that are discovered using AXL discovered phones is not shared through an Emergency Responder cluster.
• Jabber clients can now send their location information to Unified Communications Manager.
The following are three new configuration parameters that must be set to have the Jabber client send location updates:
• EnableE911OnPremLocationPolicy (For Jabber wired)
if using Jabber MRA (Mobile and Remote Access Using Expressway Edge)
• EnableE911EdgeLocationPolicy
• 911EdgeLocationWhiteList
